The Lighthouse Ranch is owned by Ginger and
Tim Young. Ginger bought the property in the summer of
1991,
and when Ginger and Tim "merged" on May 1, 1998
(see story below) Tim moved from a suburb of Seattle,
Washington to the ranch.

Ginger is a Registered Nurse and she works

About
The Ranch
Lighthouse Ranch
Why in the world would people living in the
middle of Texas call their ranch "The Lighthouse?"
As you might guess, there is a story in that
name. In early 1999, we remodeled a 3,500 square foot steel
barn into a combination business office, entertaining center
and guest house. As the remodeling started we referred to
the building as "the party barn." We were not
comfortable with that name, and we started to think about
a real name for the new facility.
When we decided to invest in the rebuilding
project, we knew that we wanted in some way use the building
to honor and serve God, to share our faith in The Lord Jesus
Christ, and to have a place for family and friends to gather
for special occasions.
The Bible tells us that Jesus is the Light
of the World, in John 8:12 Jesus says "I am the
light of the world; he who follows Me shall not walk in
the darkness, but shall have the light of life."
We saw Jesus as a Lighthouse beacon on the
sea, shining out into to the darkness, and that became the
name of our building "The Lighthouse". The ranch
then was of course the Lighthouse Ranch.
If you look closely
at our logo (designed by Ginger's son Jon Zellers) you see
a Lighthouse and its beacon light beams, but you can also
see the light beams are a cross, representing where Jesus
paid the sacrifice for the redemption for all who believe
in/on Him.

About
Our Merger
Providence or Coincidence - Tim
and Ginger Young
On November 29, 1997, Tim was searching
the internet for something to comfort his sorrow, and on
a Christian website, he discovered "The Christian Connection
- The Matchmaker for Christian Adults." Tim had recently
lost his wife Marge after 40 years of marriage; she had
succumbed to cancer. Tim and Marge were married when he
was 19 years old, and she was 18.
While Tim was not looking for a "match",
he thought it would be nice to have some Christian ladies
to talk to. So, that night in November (Marge's birthday)
he joined The Christian Connection on a 30-day trial, completed
his online profile, turned the computer off and went to
bed. The next day he logged in to the CC and found inquiries
from several ladies. He read their profiles and responded
to a few. One lady sounded especially interesting, and since
she lived over 2,000 miles away (Tim lived in the Seattle,
Washington area, and the lady lived near Burleson, Texas)
Tim believed they could communicate as pen pals, and because
of the distance, nothing more than a cyber friendship would
come of the contact.
The lady was Ginger. Ginger had been a CC
member for a short time, and that night in November decided
to check through the profiles of all the men in her age
bracket (something she had never done before). She ran across
Tim's profile, and wrote him a brief note. Ginger was like
Tim, she was not looking for a relationship, just wanted
a fellow believer to communicate with, to have a pen pal.
These two had very much in common; spiritually,
philosophically, politically and economically.
They each had the same number of children (4), read the
same books, they even drove the exact same make and model
car. In fact they were both concerned that maybe they were
to much alike, but soon discovered that at their ages, seeing
life through the same color glasses was a plus. They decided
that it's hard to teach old dogs new tricks.
Some would say this was sheer coincidence
that they would both be on CC that night and that they would
connect. Neither Ginger nor Tim believe that life happens
by coincidence, they do believe strongly in providence.
Six months later, after several hundred emails,
many hours of telephone calls, trips from Washington to
Texas, and Texas to Washington; Ginger and Tim were married
on May 1, 1998 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. There is even
a story in the wedding. They actually conducted their own
marriage ceremony, i.e. they married themselves without
clergy, judge, ship captain or witness. That process is
only legal in the state of Colorado. Of course, they believe
that since God put them together, He was their witness.
Tim moved to Texas, and they are living,
happily ever after, on their little ranch just south
of Fort Worth.
Thank you
Father God, for bring us together and for our marriage and
partnership!
